Slay the Dragon Quest!

An evil, ancient, yellow dragon has traveled to Pegasus Valley from far away lands, and stolen the thunder from our skies, bringing us nothing but fires and droughts this year. You must enter the ancient vault and recover the lost pieces of a mystical sword, so that it may be reforged and used to slay the beast, and bring the rains back to our lands in time to save the crops for this year's harvest.

The quest game itself should take about two hours. Players will be divided into small teams, and will compete with each other for the sword pieces so they can reforge an ancient sword to kill the dragon with. The dragon may be killed without the sword, but it will return to life infinitely without using the sword. Refer to this map: http://www.pegasusvalley.com/node/1364 for game details.

The vault features many puzzles and challenges, including chasms, poisoned traps, and gas chambers, used to guard the sword pieces. Be prepared! Show up at 1 PM, the game will start shortly thereafter.

There will also be a barbecue at the park, with free food and drinks, though donations to the group are accepted. Come for the fun and food. After the game will be an althing.

The rooms are labeled A, B, C, D, and E. Players are recovering objects from these rooms(purple dots) so they can have the blacksmith forge a sword which will defeat the dragon.

A Bad Hand

(Another long post. Skip to the bottom for this week's battlegames, if you hate stories. Stay tuned to this list(and other sources) for clues for games in weeks to come. If you like talking in-character and all that good stuff, feel free to do your thing as the story reveals itself. Story and games written and produced by The Expedition)

As the cold winter draws to its end, our noble Duchy saw a significant boon for its local economy. As pockets are lined with coins, once again people have begun to charter adventuring parties for the purposes of going out into the countryside and returning with valuables looted from forgotten dungeons, a tradition long-enduring in Pegasus Valley. Often these adventures are filled with magic, and mystery, sometimes monsters, perhaps maidens even.

A Coup d'État

This is a lengthy post, so bear with me. Next week I will be running a series of battlegames, worked around a single story scenario. I'd like to get as many of these in as possible, so aim to show up to the park really early; let's shoot for noon if we can.

Game 1: The Vault
It's been a long and cold six months. Now, as the end of his term draws near, Duke F'lar seems to have but a feeble grip on the Duchy. Duchess-by-succession Dru-Kara, seeing his weakness, has enlisted soldiers and mercenaries, in order to overthrow the Duke and lay her claim to the land. Having assembled a caravan, they ride to the ducal vault, holding all of the Duchy's fortunes, and knock a hole in the wall, so they may claim the riches held within and fund Dru-Kara's war campaign.

Black lines are impassible walls. The defending team may enter the green "archery towers" freely and exit freely. Anyone standing up in a tower may fire projectiles out of them(and threw walls, as they are "over" the wall) and may also be fired upon with projectiles, and are within line-of-sight of verbals. Anyone crouched, sitting down, or kneeling in a tower may not be seen or affected from outside the tower, although "Tracking" may be used by a member of the other team to enter the tower and attack anyone inside.

Scouts Versus Assassins Diagram

Scouts Versus Assassins Diagram

A battlegame designed for small numbers; one team made up of scouts or primarily of scouts, and a separate assassin team. The scouts start with one flag, at their base, in the center of the field. They have several camouflaged snipers nests near their base to shoot intruders from. The assassins start at one of four bases very far away. At the beginning of the game, they choose one player on their team who will guard their team's flag(it can be hidden on their person, but must remain on their person, and may be looted when they die). If the assassins take the scout flag and get it back to any of their spawn points, they win. If the scouts find the assassin flag and take it to their base in the middle, they win.
